What is the difference between Essentia, Solo, and Companion?
Theralogix offers three different multivitamins to meet your nutrient needs at different life stages.

Essentia is a comprehensive multivitamin designed for women that provides methylated folate, vitamin C, B vitamins, 50 mg of choline, 50 mcg (2,000 IU) of vitamin D3, and 18 mg of iron, along with chelated minerals and other essential nutrients. Essentia is recommend for younger women or any adult who needs iron in their daily multivitamin.

Solo is a well-balanced multivitamin that provides methylated folate, vitamin C, B vitamins, 50 mg of choline, and 50 mcg (2,000 IU) of vitamin D3, along with chelated minerals and other essential nutrients. Solo does not contain iron, so it’s recommended for men, women 51+, or any adult who does not need iron in their daily multivitamin.

Companion is a multivitamin that provides methylated folate, vitamin C, B vitamins, and 50 mg of choline, along with chelated minerals and other essential nutrients. Companion does not contain iron, vitamin D, or vitamin K. It is recommended for men, women 51+, or any adult who does not need supplemental iron, who already takes a supplement with adequate vitamin D, or who has been advised to limit their vitamin K intake.

What makes Companion different from other multivitamins?
Companion provides a full range of vitamins and minerals; however, it does not contain vitamin D, vitamin K, or iron. So, Companion is a great choice for men and postmenopausal women who do not require iron supplementation, those who have been advised to limit vitamin K intake, and those already taking another supplement that contains vitamin D.
Can I take Companion if I'm allergic to shellfish?
Yes. Companion does not contain shellfish.
Can I take other nutritional supplements along with Companion?
Yes. Companion is formulated to be taken along with another supplement that contains vitamin D, like Thera-D, Prosteon, TheraCal, or Prostate 2.4. You can also take Companion with most other supplements, including omega-3, coenzyme Q10, inositol, calcium, melatonin, PEA, cranberry, glucosamine, and chondroitin. Do not take another multivitamin while taking Companion.
Does Companion interact with any prescription medications?
The list below includes some of the more common potential interactions. This is not meant to be a comprehensive list or take the place of advice from your healthcare provider. As with any dietary supplement, discuss with your pharmacist and/or healthcare team to determine whether Companion can be taken with your medications.

Antibiotics: Taking calcium, magnesium, and/or zinc (in Solo) along with antibiotics can decrease their absorption and effectiveness. Depending on which antibiotic is prescribed, you may need to separate Companion from the antibiotic, as indicated below.

      • Cephalexin (Keflex): Take at least 3 hours before Companion.
      • Tetracycline antibiotics (doxycycline, minocycline, demeclocycline): Separate by 4 hours.
      • Ciprofloxacin (Cipro), gemifloxacin (Factive), levofloxacin (Levaquin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox): Separate by 6 hours.

Oral bisphosphonates (i.e., alendronate (Fosamax), etidronate (Didronel), risedronate (Actonel), ibandronate (Boniva), tiludronate (Skelid)): Magnesium and calcium (in Companion) can decrease the absorption of these medications. Separate by 2 hours.

Thyroid hormone (levothyroxine, Synthroid): Minerals in Companion can reduce absorption of these medications. Separate Companion and thyroid hormone by at least 4 hours.

Medications for overactive thyroid (methimazole, propylthiouracil): Taking iodine (in Companion) along with these medications might change their effects. Consult with your healthcare provider if you’re taking medication for an overactive thyroid along with Companion.
