PRODUCT FAQ

Q. Should smokers take Bladder 2.2?

No, current smokers should not take Bladder 2.2. In two clinical trials, high doses of supplemental vitamin A and beta-carotene (about 3-4 times more than in Bladder 2.2) increased the risk of lung cancer in current smokers. Therefore, we do not recommend that smokers take Bladder 2.2. Individuals who smoked in the past, but have quit smoking, do not appear to have the same increased risk as current smokers.

Q. Are there side effects from Bladder 2.2?

There are no expected side effects from Bladder 2.2.

Q. Is there anyone who should not take Bladder 2.2?

Yes. Pregnant women, women who are nursing and individuals who smoke should not take Bladder 2.2. Those with kidney stone disease should exercise caution due to the high level of vitamin C in the product.

Bladder 2.2 is not designed to reduce your risk for urinary tract infections or help with symptoms of overactive bladder or interstitial cystitis (IC).

Q. Is Bladder 2.2 recommended along with my treatments (BCG therapy and/or interferon)?

Yes. Bladder 2.2 is often recommended along with these treatments.

Q. Does Bladder 2.2 contain nutrients at safe doses?

Yes. Although Bladder 2.2 contains certain nutrients at doses higher than typically recommended to the general public, the nutrients are at or below the Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL). The UL is defined as the maximum level of daily nutrient intake that is likely to pose no risk of adverse effects. The formulation has been reviewed and approved by the Theralogix Medical Advisory Board of physicians and scientists for continuous daily use.

Q. Should I continue to take my multivitamin and/or other nutritional supplements once I start taking Bladder 2.2?

No. Bladder 2.2 is a complete multivitamin and mineral supplement, and taking another multivitamin along with it will provide you with too much of certain nutrients. Do not take other supplements containing, or foods fortified with, vitamins A or B6.

Q. Does Bladder 2.2 interact with any prescription medications?

Yes. As with any dietary supplement, it is recommended you discuss with your pharmacist and or healthcare team to clarify whether Bladder 2.2 can be taken along with your medications.

Do not take Bladder 2.2 if you are taking the following medications:
  • Retinoids: Vitamin A-containing medications and creams (acitretin, all-trans retinoic acid, bexarotene, etretinate, and isotretinoin) should not be take along with Bladder 2.2 because it would give too much vitamin A.

  • Levodopa: Do not take Bladder 2.2 due to high pyridoxine (vitamin B6) content.

  • Medications that are changed by the liver Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP34) substrates (for example lovastatin, clarithromycin, estrogens) - CYP34 are important enzymes in your body, mainly found in the liver to break down medications in the body. Vitamin D may increase how quickly the liver breaks down some medications. Taking Bladder 2.2 that contains 50 mcg (2,000 IU) vitamin D along with some medications may decrease the effectiveness of some medications. Before taking Bladder 2.2, talk to your healthcare provider to determine if you are taking medications that are changed by the liver.

Bladder 2.2 may also affect the absorption of certain prescription medications as follows:

Antibiotics: Certain nutrients such as zinc can bind to antibiotics in the stomach and reduce their absorption and effectiveness. Depending on the antibiotic prescribed, you may need to separate taking any multivitamins from antibiotics by at least 2 to possibly 6 hours or discontinue taking a multivitamin while taking the antibiotic. Please discuss with your pharmacist and healthcare team to determine if you should stop taking your multivitamin for a short period of time.

  • • Penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen) – Separate by 2 hours
  • • Cephalexin (Keflex) – Take Bladder 2.2 three hours or more after taking this antibiotic
  • • Tetracycline antibiotics (doxycycline, minocycline, demeclocycline)- Separate by 4 hours
  • • Ciprofloxacin (Cipro), gemifloxacin (Factive), levofloxacin (Levaquin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox) – Separate by 6 hours

Atorvastatin (Lipitor) - This medication helps control cholesterol levels in the body. Taking it with Bladder 2.2 that contains 50 mcg (2,000 IU) of vitamin D may decrease the amount of atorvastatin absorbed by the body. Separate by a minimum of 2 hours.

Thiazide diuretics (aka: water pills) – These medications are used to treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure as well as the accumulation of fluid and swelling (edema) in the body. These medications also increase the amount of calcium in the body. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium. Taking Bladder 2.2 that contains 50 mcg (2,000 IU) vitamin D along with these medications may cause too much calcium in the body.
