What is the difference between TheraLith XR and CitraLith?
TheraLith XR provides 12 mEq of citrate alkali in four daily tablets. The nutrients in TheraLith XR help increase urinary citrate levels and decrease urinary oxalate levels, which are key factors to reduce the risk of calcium oxalate crystallization.* However, TheraLith XR is not formulated to change the pH of urine.

CitraLith provides 30 mEq of citrate alkali in two single-serving powder packets per day. The nutrients in CitraLith also help increase urinary citrate levels and decrease urinary oxalate levels to reduce the risk of calcium oxalate crystallization. But, the additional citrate alkali helps promote an optimal urine pH, which also helps reduce the risk of uric acid crystallization.*

How is TheraLith XR different than other kidney health supplements?
    • Independently tested and certified. TheraLith XR is tested and certified by NSF® International for content accuracy and purity, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

    • Research-backed. TheraLith XR showed a 29% reduction in urinary oxalate levels, 22% reduction in calcium oxalate supersaturation, and a 48% increase in urinary magnesium and citrate levels, all key factors to reduce the risk of calcium oxalate crystal formation.*

    • Quality you can trust. TheraLith XR is manufactured in the USA in a cGMP compliant facility.
    • Is there anyone who should not take TheraLith XR?
Yes. Individuals with decreased kidney function (renal insufficiency, kidney failure, or chronic kidney disease) and people who have been instructed to follow a low potassium diet should not take TheraLith XR.
How long should I take TheraLith XR?
TheraLith XR is meant to be taken on an ongoing, daily basis for optimal results. Please speak to your urologist about how long you should take TheraLith XR.
What does the XR in TheraLith XR stand for?
XR stands for extended release. TheraLith XR is formulated with an extended-release coating that delays the release of nutrients for three-to-five hours to minimize stomach upset.* TheraLith XR is certified for delayed-release and disintegration in accordance with USP Method 2040 by NSF International.
Are there any side effects from TheraLith XR?
There are no expected side effects from TheraLith XR when taken with a meal. The tablets have an extended-release coating to minimize stomach upset and promote optimal absorption.* If you have a sensitive stomach, you may consider starting with one tablet twice per day, and gradually work up to the full dose of four tablets per day.

Does TheraLith XR interact with any prescription medications?
The list below includes some of the more common potential interactions. This is not meant to be a comprehensive list or take the place of advice from your healthcare provider. As with any dietary supplement, discuss with your pharmacist and/or healthcare team to determine whether TheraLith XR can be taken along with your medications.

Antibiotics: Taking magnesium with antibiotics can decrease their absorption and effectiveness. Depending on which antibiotic is prescribed, you may need to separate TheraLith XR from the antibiotic, as indicated below.

    • Tetracycline antibiotics (doxycycline, minocycline, demeclocycline): Separate by 4 hours.
    • Quinolone antibiotics (Ciprofloxacin (Cipro), gemifloxacin (Factive), levofloxacin (Levaquin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox)): Separate by 6 hours.

Levodopa: Vitamin B6 may reduce the effects of levodopa when taken alone, but not when taken in conjunction with carbidopa. Do not take TheraLith XR along with levodopa unless you are also taking carbidopa.

Potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone, eplerenone, triamterene): These medications can increase potassium and/or magnesium levels. Taking TheraLith XR, which contains potassium and magnesium, along with these medications, may cause too much potassium and/or magnesium in the body.

High blood pressure medications (ACE inhibitors: captopril, lisinopril, cilazapril, enalapril, fosinopril, etc. or Angiotensin Receptor Blockers: losartan, valsartan, azilsartan, candesartan, telmisartan, etc.): These medications can increase potassium levels. Taking TheraLith XR, which contains potassium, along with these medications may cause too much potassium in the body.

Bisphosphonates (i.e., alendronate (Fosamax), etidronate (Didronel), risedronate (Actonel), ibandronate (Boniva), tiludronate (Skelid)): Magnesium can decrease the absorption of these medications. Separate by 2 hours.
