      What are glucosamine and chondroitin?

Glucosamine and chondroitin are both major components of your cartilage, a type of connective tissue that cushions your joints so you can keep moving with ease.* But each compound plays a slightly different role in joint health.

Glucosamine helps build and maintain healthy cartilage.* It also helps form synovial fluid, which lubricates your joints and helps them move easily.* Chondroitin helps support elasticity – it helps your cartilage retain water so your joints can bounce back after impact.*

How is OptiFlex different from other glucosamine and chondroitin supplements?
    • Independently tested and certified. OptiFlex is tested and certified by NSF® International for content accuracy and purity, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

    • Optimal dosing. OptiFlex offers separate dosing of glucosamine and chondroitin to maximize absorption.*

    • Quality you can trust. OptiFlex is manufactured in the USA in a cGMP compliant facility.
    • Who can benefit from OptiFlex?
Anyone seeking joint health support can benefit from glucosamine (OptiFlex-G), chondroitin (OptiFlex-C), or both (OptiFlex Complete).*
Why doesn't OptiFlex Complete contain glucosamine and chondroitin in the same pill?
Research suggests that when glucosamine and chondroitin are taken at the same time, less glucosamine is absorbed.* Taking them in separate doses maximizes absorption for best results.*
Are there any expected side effects from taking OptiFlex?
Although there are no expected side effects from OptiFlex, mild heartburn, stomach upset, or diarrhea may occur in a small percentage of people.
Is there anyone who should not take OptiFlex?
One small study suggests that there may be a connection between glucosamine and increased intraocular pressure in individuals with glaucoma. If you have glaucoma, check with your ophthalmologist before taking OptiFlex-G.
      Does OptiFlex contain shellfish?

Yes. The glucosamine in OptiFlex-G is derived from the exoskeletons (shell) of shellfish. Allergic reactions in people with a shellfish allergy are caused by antigens in the meat, not to antigens in the shell. Studies have demonstrated the safety of glucosamine supplements in individuals with a shellfish allergy.

So, individuals with a shellfish allergy may still be able to take OptiFlex-G. If you have a serious shellfish allergy or are unsure whether you can take glucosamine with your shellfish allergy, consult with your allergist.

How long should I take OptiFlex?

OptiFlex is designed for continuous, long-term use. Clinical studies have demonstrated the safety and benefit of 1,000–1,500 mg of glucosamine sulfate for up to three years.*

Chondroitin sulfate has been used safely in doses of up to 2,000 mg daily for up to six years.* It typically takes at least three months to notice benefit.

Why is there sodium in OptiFlex?
Sodium is naturally occurring in glucosamine and chondroitin, the two main components of OptiFlex. The sodium content of OptiFlex is small, and can be easily incorporated into your daily routine, even if you follow a low-sodium diet. OptiFlex Complete contains about the same amount of sodium as one slice of provolone cheese.
Can I take OptiFlex with other nutritional supplements?
Yes. You can take most other nutritional supplements with OptiFlex. Be sure to separate OptiFlex-C and OptiFlex-G by at least two hours for best absorption.
Does OptiFlex interact with any prescription medications?

The list below includes some of the more common potential interactions. This is not meant to be a comprehensive list or take the place of advice from your healthcare provider. As with any dietary supplement, discuss with your pharmacist and/or healthcare team to determine whether OptiFlex can be taken along with your medications.
