Can I take TheraNatal Lactation Complete if I'm allergic to shellfish?
If you have reacted to radiocontrast material or antiseptics that contain iodine, you may still be able to safely take TheraNatal Complete, even though it contains iodine. These reactions are commonly confused with a sensitivity to iodine or shellfish, though studies have shown that they are not related.

Does TheraNatal Lactation Complete interact with any prescription medications?
Antibiotics: Taking calcium, magnesium, iron, and/or zinc (in TheraNatal Lactation Complete) with antibiotics can decrease their absorption and effectiveness. Depending on which antibiotic is prescribed, you may need to separate TheraNatal Lactation Complete from the antibiotic, as indicated below.
Diltiazem (Cardizem): This medication is used to help manage blood pressure. High-dose vitamin D (in TheraNatal Lactation Complete) may cause increased calcium levels in the blood. You may need to avoid taking TheraNatal Lactation Complete.
Digoxin (Lanoxin):This medication helps the heart to beat more strongly. Taking high-dose vitamin D (in TheraNatal Lactation Complete) at the same time as this medication may increase calcium levels in the blood.
Oral Bisphosphonates (i.e., alendronate (Fosamax), etidronate (Didronel), risedronate (Actonel), ibandronate (Boniva), tiludronate (Skelid)): Magnesium, calcium, and iron (in TheraNatal Complete) can decrease the absorption of these medications. Separate by 2 hours.
Thyroid hormone (levothyroxine, Synthroid): Minerals in TheraNatal Lactation Complete can reduce absorption of these medications. Separate the purple tablet and thyroid hormone by at least 4 hours.
Medications for overactive thyroid (methimazole, propylthiouracil):Taking iodine (in TheraNatal Lactation Complete) along with these medications might change their effects. Consult with your healthcare provider if you’re taking medication for an overactive thyroid along with TheraNatal Lactation Complete.
Verapamil (Calan): Taking high-dose vitamin D (in TheraNatal Lactation Complete) can decrease the effectiveness of this medication.
