Yes. While TheraNatal Complete is formulated to meet your needs during pregnancy, the nutrient doses in this prenatal are safe to take while you’re trying to conceive, too.

You can finish taking any remaining TheraNatal Complete after pregnancy.

If you are planning to breastfeed, TheraNatal Lactation Complete is specifically formulated to meet your unique nutrients needs while breastfeeding. If you will be breastfeeding for at least several months, it is better to switch to TheraNatal Lactation Complete while breastfeeding instead of continuing with TheraNatal Complete.

If you are NOT planning to breastfeed, we recommend transitioning to a women's multivitamin like Essentia once you finish taking TheraNatal Complete.

TheraNatal Complete contains 300 mg of DHA from AlaskOmega®, a highly purified omega-3 fish oil concentrate that’s sustainably sourced from wild-caught Alaska pollock from the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska.

Every batch of fish oil in TheraNatal Complete is also tested and certified by the International Fish Oil Standards (IFOS) program to ensure it’s free from harmful contaminants, including mercury, lead, and PCBs. It has continually received the highest rating of five stars from IFOS, which reflects its exceptional quality, purity, and safety.

TheraNatal Complete does not contain shellfish.

If you have reacted to radiocontrast material or antiseptics that contain iodine, you may still be able to safely take TheraNatal Complete, even though it contains iodine. These reactions are commonly confused with a sensitivity to iodine or shellfish, though studies have shown that they are not related.

TheraNatal Complete contains omega-3 fish oil derived from wild-caught Alaska pollock. If you are allergic to fish, the fish oil softgel in TheraNatal Complete may not be safe for you. Consult your allergist and/or healthcare team.

Yes. It is normal for the color of the TheraNatal tablets to vary. We use a natural colorant, which can vary slightly in each batch. Also, it is normal for the speckling and overall color to darken over time.

Certain supplements can be taken along with TheraNatal Complete, including Ovasitol or CalMag Thins. However, we do not recommend taking another multivitamin or prenatal with TheraNatal Complete.

The list below includes some of the more common potential interactions. This is not meant to be a comprehensive list or take the place of advice from your healthcare provider. As with any dietary supplement, discuss with your pharmacist and/or healthcare team to determine whether TheraNatal Complete can be taken with your medications.

Antibiotics: Taking calcium, magnesium, iron, and/or zinc (in TheraNatal Complete) with antibiotics can decrease their absorption and effectiveness. Depending on which antibiotic is prescribed, you may need to separate TheraNatal Complete from the antibiotic, as indicated below.

Cephalexin (Keflex): Take at least 3 hours before TheraNatal Complete.

Tetracycline antibiotics (doxycycline, minocycline, demeclocycline): Separate by 4 hours.

Quinolone antibiotics (Ciprofloxacin (Cipro), gemifloxacin (Factive), levofloxacin (Levaquin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox)): Separate by 6 hours.

Levodopa, Carbidopa: Taking iron (in TheraNatal Complete) might decrease the absorption of these medications. Take at separate times of the day.

Oral Bisphosphonates (i.e., alendronate (Fosamax), etidronate (Didronel), risedronate (Actonel), ibandronate (Boniva), tiludronate (Skelid)): Magnesium, calcium, and iron (in TheraNatal Complete) can decrease the absorption of these medications. Separate from TheraNatal Complete by 2 hours.

Penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen): Iron (in TheraNatal Complete) may decrease the absorption of this medication. Separate from TheraNatal Complete by 2 hours.

Thyroid hormone (levothyroxine, Synthroid): Minerals in TheraNatal Complete can reduce the absorption of thyroid hormone medications. Separate the speckled tablet and thyroid hormone by at least 4 hours.

Medications for overactive thyroid (methimazole, propylthiouracil): Iodine (in TheraNatal Complete) might change the effects of these medications. Consult with your healthcare provider if you’re taking medication for an overactive thyroid with TheraNatal Complete.
