LATEST RESEARCH UPDATE: A recent dose-response meta-analysis found that circulating 25(OH)D levels are associated with decreased mortality among prostate cancer patients. Further dose-response analysis showed that every 20 nmol/L (50 ng/mL) increase in 25(OH)D was associated with 9% lower risk of all-causeand prostate cancer-specific mortality. The authors conclude that higher vitamin D levels are significantly associated with a reduction in all-cause and prostate cancer-specific mortality risk, indicating that vitamin D may exert a protective effect in the progression and prognosis of prostate cancer.
